Christmas and New Year’s Eve is right around the corner. While most of us are done with gift shopping and prepations, the annual question of what to wear is back. The classic look would be gold eyeshadow, red lipstick and probably a velvet dress of some kind. But how do you switch it up without loosing the festive feeling ? Gold and red are the most Christmas-y colors after all. So here are a couple of ways to switch it up ! Hope you take some inspiration from these non-festive makeup looks and make them festive.
Christmas trees and reefs are green so why shouldn’t your eyeshadow be too ? I know green is such an unusual makeup color but it really enhances your eyes (no matter which eye color) and also is more blendable than any blue toned color. Here I used Colourpop’s „dragon“ eyeshadow blended with a ton of different matte brown shades. On my lips I’m wearing NYX „Cannes“ soft matte lip cream with MAC whirl liner and on my cheeks the Marc Jacobs „obsessed“ blush !
The whole idea for the green eye look came from my top which is a green see through crochet long sleeve top I’m wearing over a black 3/4 sleeved black body to not reveal so much skin. Both things are from Zara!
Somehow it looks blue in this light but I had trouble getting good shots in the gloomy weather later on in the day.
The coat is a vintage Burberry coat I received from my grandma. She bought it back in the 1960s when Burberry was still being sold at local boutiques. How cool right ? Even after 50 years it’s still in impeccable good shape.
Something more subtle and probably more user friendly for everyone scared of color is a simple white winged eyeliner on top of some brown matte shadow. Here I used colourpop „exit“ gel liner and the NARS audacious mascara! I love the colourpop gel liners because they are affordable and long lasting. Needless to say I stocked up on a few different bold colors.
Make sure to apply a ton of black mascara and line your upper inner water liner with black eyeliner to give some dimension back to your eye shape.
Wear a red flannel and a nude lip and you’re good to go !
HAPPY HOLIDAYS !
